Geodesign Collaborative

Geodesign Collaborative hosted in the Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture strive to foster collaborative projects. The Geodesign collaborative support in licensing, software trouble shooting and learning through workshops as well as one on one appointments. Few of the workshops that are currently offered are:

ArcGIS Storymaps: Storymaps is a visual storytelling platform by the ArcGIS platform. The application can be used to produce highly engaging and interactive stories that convey concepts, best practices and projects. By completing this module, the user will be able to design a story which includes multimedia, images and web maps. Also, apply custom design themes, publish and share your story.

ArcGIS GeoPlanner: GeoPlanner is an application within ArcGIS Online that allows users to create and overlay geographic data alongside customizable dashboards. This module will instruct participants about the fundamentals of GeoPlanner and the flexible elements which allow it to become a useful planning tool for a multitude of use cases.

ArcGIS Urban: Also within ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Urban is a flexible application usable for various planning purposes across multiple scales. This module will cover the basic data types, metrics, and tools available to users, with a focus on the two main types of scenario planning within the application.

Business Analyst: The module introduces user to Business Analyst and is apt for first time users. The goal is to get familiar with the terms, tools and workspace. On completing the module, the user will be able to creating maps, importing data, accessing data, infographics and reports.

ArcGIS Desktop and Pro: Both are GIS mapping softwares which is widely used for spatial analysis and mapping. The workshops can be for basic, intermediate or advanced users on topic as per request for class projects or research groups.

For Storymaps, Geoplanner, Urban and Business Analyst: Prior experience with geographic information systems (GIS) is a plus, but the tool still has great value for those new to GIS. For further information and other activities, please visit Geodesign Collaborative
